The Cap Blanc Nez

The Cap Blanc Nez is a cape located at Escalles in Pas-de-Calais, 10km away from the town of Calais and around 25km from Boulogne-sur-Mer. It is France’s northernmost cliff.

The cliffs, which are 134m high, are made of white chalk and stand above a rocky shore.

10 km in the south is the Cap Gris-Nez, which forms with the Cap Blanc Nez the Grand Site des Deux Caps labelled “Grand Site de France” since 2011.

At the top of the cliffs, you can see on one side the colourful hinterland. On the other side, admire the Strait of Pas-de-Calais, the Bay of Wissant and by sunny day you can even hope to spot the English coasts.

Do not miss the majestic sunsets which attract painters and photographers.
